about
I first created this song in 2020 to prove I could do it. Now, I've had some time to make some adjustments, and I'm re-releasing it with some new flare. This track features home made guitar tracks, vocals, and, at about 00:29 introducing a fat synth bass line that one listener said "melted my face". I programmed drums and percussion, tried my hand at mixing after some time browsing youtube university, and overall think this is a decent attempt at where I'm headed. Happy Groundhog Day - feel free to put this one repeat <3
Everything was mostly self-taught, done using garage band on my 2015 Macbook Air with an even older Focusrite Saffire Pro interface. I was going to record the vocals again, but my mic broke, so I took that as a sign to just release it as-is. The lyrics are, after all, about success and I'm ready to get this fear of releasing things off of my chest.
The first $150 generated will replace my vocal mic.
The rest goes toward: replace my computer soon - it won't update anymore, get my guitar fixed so the pickup stops disconnecting, invest in a portable generator, acquire and maintain reliable transportation, book a tour and fund travel/lodging, eat food, maintain stable housing, healthcare, phone bill/ internet so I can send and receive communication for gigs, etc.
Thank you for rocking with me!
lyrics
VERSE 1
lets’s get one thing straight
right off the top
you claim you’re not
stuck between a rock and a hard place
want to change your stripes, or so you thought
singin and playin is hard to do
not hard as keeping my hands off you
singin and playin is a master skill
and its how i learned to control my will
CHORUS
and i do it all with great success
without making too much much of a mess
and i do it all with great success
helps me to release my stress
get this shit off my chest
VERSE 2
I’m through with playing pretend
and i gotta know, are you just a friend
should that be the case
please come correct, right to my face
singin and playin is hard to do
not hard as keeping my mind off you
singin and playin is mighty fine
help us feel good most of the time
CHORUS
and you do it all with great success
without making too much of a mess
you could do it all with great success
trying not to make a mess
get that shit off your chest
VERSE 3
one thing that is so unclear
why you so consumed by this fear
you ain’t doin’ no wrong thing
I promise that’s just what you think
CHORUS
we’re gonna do it all with great success
without makin any mess
we’re gona do it all with great success
we don’t have to mak e any mess
and we’d do it all with great success
we don’t have to make a mess
we could do it all with great success
we don’t have to make a mess
get this shit off your chest
